Thankyou for this writing, I love that you put it out, even with the feelings of fear, anger, disenfranchisement, disempowerment it evoked. The general sense of discombobulation and unease in the world is the clear, and probably desired response to violence, personal invasion a perpetrator desires. Muddied blues, muddied donkey can be righted. I loved how you persevered with the integrity of self and process that dissolves discombobulation.

Your poem 'Unexpected' was unexpected... and also brutally honest... and disconcerting... but that is what poetry does so well - striking with emotional directness.

Elizabeth muddying only one side was a lovely way to bracket your artistic process with its inspiration

Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment! Unexpected is a very disconcerting poe-umm. It wasn't very hard to write at all, I've heard too many stories and had some unsettling experiences. The brutality of life that women (even little girls) endure is unexpected, and often they endure in silence, which is expected. I've always been conscious of being seen, and not wanting to be seen. Even online, I tread with caution. It is what it is. As with anything I write (even in my novels) I know the value of winding down after writing something difficult and ending with something to calm the waters, to bridge to the next thing.
